Rent a van yourself or book one with a driver?

Both have their place. If you have many trips over a whole day and can drive yourself, a rental van is often cheaper. For a load of one to three hours the driver is usually the simpler solution: you pay for the time and do not have to collect, refuel or return anything.

Comparison portals advertise vans in Leipzig from around 30 € a day. That is the entry price, and it varies a lot with the date. On top come fuel, often extra kilometres and an excess if damage is not covered separately.

What a van with driver costs in Leipzig

We charge by time. There is no travel charge within 50 km of Leipzig. We give the fixed price as soon as we have both addresses and a photo.

Furniture taxi (Möbeltaxi) and small transports: what we drive

A furniture taxi is nothing more than a van with a driver for single items. You are not booking a move but a run: from A to B, a sofa today, perhaps a wardrobe next week.

• Single pieces of furniture: sofa, wardrobe, bed or table, also straight from Kleinanzeigen
• Large appliances: washing machine, fridge, tumble dryer
• Shopping: furniture store or DIY store, when it will not fit in the car
• Small moves: a room in a shared flat, student room, boxes to storage or to the cellar
• Bulky items: bicycles, garden furniture, shelves, doors

Is the driver enough, or do you need a helper too?

The driver helps carry. But the driver does not carry heavy items up the stairs alone, which would be too risky for the furniture and the stairwell.

• Driver is enough: ground floor or lift, and you or a friend help carry.
• Add a helper: stairs without a lift, sofa, large wardrobe or washing machine.
• Dismantling and assembling furniture: 35 €/hr, we bring the tools.

How to book

WhatsApp is quickest. Send us these four details and you will usually get a reply the same day.

• What: a photo or the Kleinanzeigen ad, with measurements for furniture if possible
• From where to where: both addresses
• Floor and lift: at both addresses
• When: your preferred date, Monday to Saturday

We are two people with one van. You often get an appointment in 2–3 days; at the end of the month it can get tighter.

What we do not drive

Art, antiques and very valuable items belong with a removal company with insurance cover. We take a piano or a safe only by arrangement; depending on weight and stairs, two people are not enough.

And to be honest up front: we do not have goods-in-transit insurance (Güterversicherung). We work with blankets and straps and take care. We are liable for damage we cause within the limits of the law.
