The drive from Leipzig to Jena

From Leipzig we take the A 38 and A 9 to the Hermsdorfer Kreuz, then the A 4 and finally down into the Saale valley. That is about 95 kilometres, just over an hour without traffic.

Jena is in Thuringia, in a narrow valley, and many streets go uphill. That is why we always ask about the floor and access before we name a fixed price. One day is still very doable.

What moving day can look like

Example for a two-room flat with packed boxes. Floor, lift and volume shift the times. The opposite direction works the same way.

Living in Jena: what we look at

In Jena, many flats are on a slope or high up in the building:

• City centre and Westviertel: old buildings without a lift, narrow streets, hardly any free spaces. Without a no-parking zone the way to the van gets long.
• Lobeda and Winzerla: high-rises with a lift and prefab blocks without one. In the high-rises we check beforehand what fits into the lift.
• Wenigenjena and Jena-Ost: old buildings and smaller houses on the other bank of the Saale.
• Slopes: a photo of the access road shows us how close the van can get to the building.

No-parking zone in Jena

Jena makes it easier than most cities: the Verkehrsorganisation team takes the application by post, e-mail or fax, and Kommunalservice Jena puts up the signs. You do not need to hire a company.

The application must arrive at least one week before the move, and the signs go up at least four working days before. According to the city, the zone costs €15 for up to three days, and the signs €142.80 for one location or €238 for two. We handle the Leipzig side.

What to do when

What we take care of

We bring blankets and straps. If your flat does not fit into one van, we say so beforehand, not on moving day. And to be honest up front: we have no goods insurance (Güterversicherung).

Short-notice move: how fast we can come

You do not have to wait two or three weeks for a date. We are a family business with our own van and plan the day ourselves: if the day is free, we go, by arrangement also early in the morning, in the evening or on Saturdays. Sundays and public holidays stay free.

WhatsApp is the fastest way. Our goal is to reply within 10 minutes, Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. If we are carrying a wardrobe up the stairs at that moment, we reply as soon as our hands are free.
