From a packed cellar to an empty room

Clearing out gets postponed because it looks like a lot of work — and it is. A cellar compartment in a Leipzig Altbau fills up over twenty years with things nobody needs any more, but that nobody is going to drive to the Wertstoffhof on their own either. We arrive with a van and enough people, carry everything out, sweep up and take the contents away for proper disposal. If you arrange access, you do not even need to be present.

Anything still usable we sort out rather than throwing the lot into one skip. Furniture, tools, bicycles and appliances in good condition can often be passed on — which reduces the volume going to disposal and therefore your price. Electrical appliances and scrap metal we separate in any case, because they have to be disposed of through different routes.

Clearing a home after a bereavement

This kind of job almost always has a sad reason behind it, so we work differently than on an ordinary clearance. We agree beforehand exactly which rooms and which items are off limits. Documents, photo albums, letters and jewellery are set aside rather than removed — even when they are lying in the middle of everything else.

If you want to be there, we schedule around you. If you would rather not be, we work strictly to the agreed list and send you photos of the empty rooms afterwards. Many relatives do not live in Leipzig; in that case the whole arrangement runs over WhatsApp.

What a clearance costs

The price depends on volume, access and what exactly is being removed. A cellar with ten cubic metres of household goods is one thing; a four-room flat on the fourth floor without a lift is quite another, and building rubble costs considerably more to dispose of than old timber. That is why we do not quote without having seen the job.

Photos on WhatsApp are enough for a first estimate. For larger jobs we come round free of charge and give a fixed price that includes disposal — so no separate bill arrives from the recycling centre afterwards.
