Leaf removal in Leipzig – we rake, load and haul it away

from 20 €/m³Hauling away leaves and garden waste — labour charged by time spent
Fixed price in 2 minutes

In October and November, gardens and yards in Leipzig produce more leaves than fit in a Biotonne (organic waste bin). We rake lawns and beds clear, tidy paths and driveways and take everything with us — no leaf sacks and no trip to the Wertstoffhof (recycling centre).

Three ways to get rid of leaves in Leipzig

The city of Leipzig offers its own options for leaves — for small amounts they are often the cheapest choice. Here is an honest comparison:

What piles up in the garden in autumn

Leaves rarely come alone — before winter it pays to get everything done in a single visit.

Tip: Two fixed visits — mid-October and the end of November — are enough in most Leipzig gardens. That way the leaves never lie long enough to damage the lawn.

Where leaves have to go — and where they can stay

Not every leaf has to disappear. On the pavement, at the yard entrance and at the front door, though, they do: wet leaves on paving slabs are as slippery as ice, and the duty to keep the pavement in front of the property safe (Verkehrssicherungspflicht) lies with the owner — who can pass it on by contract, for example to us or to the tenants. On the lawn it is not about safety but about the turf: a thick, wet layer takes away light and air, and in spring there is a yellow mat underneath instead of lawn.

Under hedges, in beds and around shrubs, on the other hand, leaves can happily stay. They protect the roots from frost, rot down to humus and give hedgehogs and insects a place to spend the winter. So we clear selectively: paths and lawn clear, beds stay covered — unless you expressly want it otherwise.

How often in autumn — and what else piles up

Once is rarely enough. Trees in Leipzig usually drop their leaves over four to six weeks: chestnuts and limes early in October, oaks and beeches well into November. If you clear only once, you either clear too early or find yourself standing in leaves again in December. Two to three rounds over the autumn are normal — for properties with visitors, weekly as well.

  • Keep pavements, yard entrances and front doors clear
  • Clear the lawn before the layer gets wet and dense
  • Empty cellar light wells and yard drains — otherwise the water ends up in the cellar
  • Haul leaves away instead of overfilling the Biotonne — 20–50 €/m³
  • Last round together with the cutting back before winter

Why the last round matters

When frost in December hits a layer of leaves, it freezes to the pavement. Then a broom no longer helps, and grit gets spread on leaves instead of stone. That is why we deliberately put the last visit late — usually the end of November.

Autumn questions

Leaf removal — frequently asked questions

Do you take the leaves away straight away?
Yes. We rake, load up and haul the leaves away together with other garden waste. You do not have to order sacks or drive to the Wertstoffhof.
How often should you remove leaves in autumn?
With large trees, usually two to three times between October and the end of November. Wet leaves that lie on the lawn for weeks make the grass underneath turn yellow. We can agree fixed visits two to three weeks apart.
Do you also work for property managers and companies?
Yes. Courtyards, driveways and green areas of residential complexes are among our typical autumn jobs — on request with fixed dates and one invoice per visit.
Do all the leaves have to go?
No. Under hedges and in beds some of the leaves can stay — they protect the soil and give hedgehogs and insects somewhere to spend the winter. Just tell us which areas should be clear.
Who is liable if someone slips on wet leaves?
The duty to keep the pavement safe (Verkehrssicherungspflicht) lies with the owner in principle; it can be passed on by contract to a firm or to the tenants. We cannot give legal advice — what we can do is clear regularly and document each visit with date and photo, so that in a dispute it can be shown that the clearing was done.
Do you also clear light wells and yard drains?
Yes, that is part of the job for us. Blocked light wells and drains are the most common reason for water in the cellar after autumn rain. We only do gutters if they can be reached safely from a ladder — higher roofs need scaffolding, and that is a job for a licensed firm.
Do you come several times in autumn?
Yes, usually two to three times between mid-October and the end of November. For property managers and larger plots we set fixed dates; otherwise just message us on WhatsApp or by e-mail when the time comes. Charged by time spent at 30–45 €/hr plus hauling away the leaves.
