Fence installation in Leipzig – straight, solid, clean
Welded mesh panels (Doppelstabmatten), timber or privacy screening (Sichtschutz) — we set the posts in concrete, align every panel to a string line and take the old fence away with us.
From the old fence to the new one — in a day
A fence either stands or it does not — there is nothing in between. That is why we always start with the foundation: posts go into a dug hole and are set in concrete, not just pushed into the soil. Then every panel is aligned to a string line so that the top edge stays on one line over the whole length — even if the plot slopes.
We take the old fence down first and take it with us; old concrete bases and bits of wire do not stay behind. On a normal plot in Leipzig, 20–30 metres are usually done in a day; for longer runs we plan two days so that the concrete can harden in peace and the panels stay straight.
- Welded mesh panel fence (Doppelstabmattenzaun) — the standard, maintenance-free, lasts decades
- Off-the-shelf timber fence and slatted privacy panels
- WPC elements (wood-plastic composite) and privacy strips
- Fitting a garden gate and pedestrian gate as a ready-made unit
- Setting posts in concrete instead of just burying them
- Taking down the old fence and taking it away
Which fences we build — and which we do not
We work with off-the-shelf system fences: welded mesh panel fence (Doppelstabmattenzaun — the classic, lasts decades and needs no care), timber fence and slatted privacy panels, WPC elements, plus garden gates and pedestrian gates as ready-made units. We can supply the material or you can buy it yourself — whichever you prefer.
What we do not do: forged or on-site welded metal fences, and fences on a masonry plinth — those need a master-certified firm (Meisterbetrieb) in metalwork or masonry. If you are looking for something like that, we will say so straight away in our first reply, rather than selling you an appointment and then cancelling.
- Aligning the fence line to a string — a straight top edge
- Height compensation on sloping plots
- Digging out and disposing of old concrete bases
- We can supply the material — or you buy it yourself
- Advice on the permitted fence height before the visit
What a fence costs with us
We charge per running metre, and the price depends above all on the ground: soft soil goes quickly, old concrete or roots take time. That is why we give the fixed price, once we have seen 2–3 photos of the fence line — or after a free visit on site.
Everything that belongs to the work is always included in the price: digging the holes, setting the posts in concrete, installing and aligning the panels, taking down and disposing of the old fence. Material is itemised separately so you can see what is labour and what is goods.

How a fence is built: from the string line to the last post
A fence stands or falls with its posts. That is why we do not start with the fence panel but with the line: stretch the string, mark out the spacing, dig the holes. The posts go into concrete below the frost line — in our area that means around eighty centimetres deep. If you set them shallower, after the second winter you have a wave in the fence, and you cannot get it out again without rebuilding.
On a slope, height compensation is added — +5–10 €/lm: the panels are stepped or adjusted so that there is a straight line at the top and no gap for the dog at the bottom. A gate needs stronger posts than the panels next to it, because it is pulled on every day.
Old fence out, new one in
Most jobs already have something standing: a rusted-through chain-link fence, rotten wooden slats or concrete bases from the eighties. We take that away on the same visit so the plot does not stay open for weeks.
- Taking down the old fence — 8–15 €/lm
- Removing old concrete bases and foundations — 15–30 €/pc
- Hauling away and disposing of the old material — 30–60 €/m³
- Re-marking the line if the old fence stood crooked
- Setting the new posts in concrete and letting them harden
Height, distance from the boundary and appearance of a boundary fence are governed in Saxony by neighbour law (Nachbarrecht), and the boundary itself is not always where the old fence stood. Agree the line with your neighbour beforehand — it costs one conversation and, in case of doubt, can save you from tearing everything out again. We cannot give legal advice; in a dispute the city or a solicitor can help.
