Most moves at the start of the semester look like one of these three. The times are based on experience – we give the exact price after seeing photos.
15–20 boxes, a bed, a desk, a shelf. A van with a driver who lends a hand is usually enough – with one or two friends you are done in two to three hours.
The nearest IKEA store is in Günthersdorf (Leuna), outside Leipzig. We pick up the parcels and assemble the bed, wardrobe and shelves right in your new flat.
Clear out the old room, load up, drive to Leipzig, set everything up again. Here the package with two movers pays off – we include the travel costs in the fixed price.

A student move rarely looks like a family move: few pieces of furniture, plenty of boxes, a narrow staircase and a date squeezed between an exam and the handover of the old room. These are the three cases we see most often:
Mattress, desk, shelf and ten to fifteen boxes. One van, two people, done before noon.
Kitchen things, a washing machine and usually an IKEA wardrobe that has to be taken apart and rebuilt.
Loading, driving and unloading on the same day. Within 50 km of Leipzig we charge no travel, for longer distances travel is part of the total price, and everything else by effort.
If you only need muscle, book helpers at 25 €/hr per person. If you have no vehicle, a driver with a van costs 30 €/hr. For a full flat, the package with two people and a van for three hours at 289 € is usually cheaper than paying by the hour.
The most expensive part is usually the date, not the flat. At the end of September and the beginning of October half of Leipzig moves at once, vans get scarce and Saturdays are booked first. A weekday gives you more choice and a calmer schedule.
In Plagwitz, Connewitz and Südvorstadt there is rarely a free parking space on moving day. A no-parking zone costs from around 32 € and has to be applied for at the city a few days in advance. We tell you in the quote whether it pays off in your street — with a long carrying distance it almost always does.
