About ShanBau — who turns up at your door
ShanBau is a family crew from Leipzig-Plagwitz: two people, our own van, our own tools, over ten years in construction. We do the work ourselves, with no subcontractors and no call centre — whoever names the price is the one who turns up and does the job.
Who we are
The owner is Ruslan Shaniuk, who learned his trade and worked in construction — plasterboard work, floors, renovation. He runs the business as a sole trader (Einzelunternehmen) with a Gewerbeanmeldung (trade registration), registered in Leipzig. On site there are two of us, father and son, plus our own van and tools that are not rented.
That is the whole crew — and almost everything else follows from it: you always deal with the same person, there is no mark-up in the price for an office and dispatch, and what we agree in advance also holds on site.
We speak German, Russian and Ukrainian: Moving in Russian and Ukrainian. For English-speaking customers: English-speaking movers in Leipzig.
How we arrive at a price
Most firms first send someone to have a look and only then name a sum. With us it is the other way round: all rates are openly in the price list, and we give the fixed price after two or three photos — usually the same day.
- You send photos by WhatsApp or fill in the form
- We work out the volume and effort and give you a fixed price
- The price applies on the day of the work and does not change afterwards
- If something comes up on site, we tell you beforehand, not on the invoice
- Examples: moving helper 25 €/hr, furniture assembly 30–45 €/hr, travel up to 50 km included
If photos are not enough — for a renovation or a full flat — we come by and take a look. It costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
What we do ourselves and where a licensed firm is needed
We say openly where our limit lies. In Germany several trades require a master-certified firm (Meisterbetrieb) — electrical installation, plumbing and heating, tiling, roofing, facades. We do not have a master craftsman’s certificate (Meisterbrief) and do not pretend to.
We do ourselves
- Moves, furniture transport, loading and unloading
- Furniture and kitchen assembly, wardrobes, doors
- Renovation: wall painting, filling and skimming, wallpapering
- Plasterboard work and floors: laminate, vinyl, click-lock parquet
- House clearance, caretaker service, garden, winter service
- Small jobs on existing connections: light fitting, tap, silicone joint
Through a licensed firm
- Electrical installation: new wiring, sockets, distribution boards
- Plumbing and heating
- Tiling and screed
- Roofing and facades
- We commission them and coordinate the date — for you it remains one point of contact
And one more thing that otherwise only turns up in the small print: we do not have business liability insurance (Betriebshaftpflicht) or goods insurance (Güterversicherung). For jobs where insurance is a condition, we are not the right choice — we would rather say so beforehand.
Where we work
Leipzig and the immediate surrounding area. There is no travel charge within 50 km of Leipzig. For longer distances we quote one total price from your photos, travel included. We do long-distance moves anywhere in Germany by arrangement.
- Leipzig: all districts, from Plagwitz to Stötteritz
- Surrounding area: Markkleeberg, Schkeuditz, Taucha, Markranstädt, Zwenkau, Böhlen
- Halle (Saale), Delitzsch, Grimma, Wurzen, Borna
- Long-distance moves: Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg, Munich and beyond
